The Volunteer Impact

Every literacy volunteer is needed.  Every literacy volunteer can change the course of a life, of a family.  Every new volunteer means one more person is taught to read.

Reading Works dedicates this newsletter to the volunteers who work with our Impact Partner agencies, as well as those who serve on the Reading Works board and committees.  Alone, you may not always feel the great power of your work, but together, you are moving mountains.

We are grateful to Danialle and Peter Karmanos, Jr. for their commitment to improving literacy in our community, and for sponsoring special volunteer thank you programs this month at each Reading Works Impact Partner agency.  This gift is in honor of author, publisher, and friend, Bill Haney in recognition for his contributions to literacy and to Reading Works.  We dedicate this newsletter to literacy volunteers everywhere as “Haney’s Heroes.”

Thank you to all the volunteers in the Reading Works Collective for your dedication to solving the urgent challenge of low literacy in metro Detroit.
